 heyday design modern porcelain combines the things we love best:  found vintage objects, the power of a good mold, and creating with our hands.


who we are

heyday design is modern porcelain with a vintage beat: meticulously handmade ceramic jewellery and objects that just might be your forever favourite things.  

Claire Madill graduated from Emily Carr University of Art & Design in 2007 and has been elbows deep in plaster, porcelain and entrepreneurship with heyday design ever since. She's actually quite a neat and tidy person, despite appearances.

what we do

With a little mold-making magic and a lot of patience for fine detail, familiar objects are cast in porcelain for use in a modern setting and vintage glass patterns are transformed into cutting edge porcelain accessories, often with a flash of lustrous asymmetrical detail. 

Each object is made over the course of 5 separate days involving over 30 steps.  Check out the video below to see some of the process:

Nan was a pretty hip lady back in the 50's -- and still is today at 94!  We get our love of style and inspiration for design from her -- not to mention prized posessions like her mother's antique beaver canning jar!
